2011-2012 Catch Up Time

Well, we have some big news...  We are expecting a baby girl!  We actually found out that I was pregnant in the beginning of September.  We are so excited & nervous at the same time!  It couldn't have worked out any better, I am due May 17th.  Just in time for Spring!  In the beginning I had morning sickness pretty much all day long & basically every other day.  Luckily I am doing better now, I only get sick every once in a while (with the help of some meds).  I can feel her wiggling around like crazy lately!  It's such an amazing experience, I don't think I'll ever get used to the feeling of her moving around.  It sometimes wakes me up in the middle of the night.  There are a few things that I have been finding out that happens when you get pregnant that I never really thought about before.  Like how much my ribs hurt!  The lack of sleep, and just body aches in general.  It'll all be worth it once she gets here!  So far we have bought our Nursery set & a few little things.  It's so hard not to buy everything!  But, I have been told to wait until after baby showers before I start shopping for things.  Which makes sense for sure. Well, other than that life has been pretty normal.  We've been trying to prepare ourselves for the arrival of our little girl more & more every day.  We still haven't decided on a name...  I think that is going to be the hardest part.  We do have a few that we agree on though. :)

Until we meet again... RIP Grandma Liz

Over the Memorial weekend my great grandmother passed away.  Her health has not been the best for quite some time now.  She was 94 years old, and diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on her pancreas.  She chose not to go through any treatments.  She passed away peacefully, in her sleep on May 30, 2011 (Memorial Day).  I wish I were able to visit with her one last time.  We were actually wanting to plan a trip out to Chicago to visit her before she passed, unfortunately we could not get there soon enough & ended up going to Chicago for her funeral instead.  I am just glad that the last conversation I had with her she sounded better than she had in a long time.  I got to tell her how much I loved & missed her.
I had not seen my grandma since she lived in California with my parents.  So, about 5 years ago.  We would talk on the phone frequently & she always caught me up on what was going on in her life & vise-versa.  When I got married, almost 2yrs ago, my grandma told me how badly she wanted to attend and how happy she was for Dave & I.  However, due to her health, she was on oxygen & unable to fly out to Utah for it.  We put together some photos on a digital frame & sent it to her, since pictures were the next best thing to actually being there.
We miss & love you Grandma Liz!  Until we meet again...

Dave's Birthday

Dave had his 26th Birthday on May 29th.  We went to Vegas for a long weekend with his family.  We stayed at his mom's timeshare.  It was a nice weekend, we left on Friday and got home on Tuesday.  While we were there we walked the strip every night.  On Dave's birthday we went out to a buffet at Mandalay Bay & after that we went to the Daniel Tosh stand up show.  It was a good night, full plate of crab legs, followed by a night full of laughter.  Good times!

Something to do...

Dave recently underwent surgery for his nose.  He had broken it a couple of times & decided it was time to breathe again.  It was a hard first week for him & I felt so bad that there wasn't much that I could do to help.  He said it felt like someone hit him in the face with a baseball bat repeatedly...  If that gives you any indication as to how much pain he was in.  This week he seems to be doing much better (thankfully)!  He got his stents taken out on Thursday & is now able to smell, taste & breathe!  He is still not able to work for at least another week, due to the fact the he is not to do any heavy lifting or too much physical activity for that matter.  I can't wait for him to be fully recovered!  I however am still recovering from my surgery in February.  I am not sure how long it will take for me to fully heal...  The doctor never really said.  Luckily my job is not physical at all & I was able to go back to work the next week following surgery.
Dave's sister & her family are moving to Denver, CO today.  We went to dinner with them last night as sort of a "see ya later" type thing.  (Not goodbye, just see ya later)  So, now two of Dave's sisters will live out of state.  It'll be weird not seeing them at family dinners & events as much.  I hope that they have an awesome time in Denver though!  We can always go up & visit them too, since it's not too far away to drive.
Ok, well I am done for the night so... see ya later!

Welcome 2011

Ok, it's been a while...  I've been slacking on this blog thing.  Well, where do I begin....  Let's see in January we went to Cancun (again)!  It was a good time for sure!  We went with 4 other couples & one single guy.  So, total there were 11 of us.  Yeah, it was pretty much a 24/7 party!  We stayed at an All-Inclusive resort (the only way to go).  It wasn't as nice as the Excellence Resorts, but it wasn't too bad for the price we paid.  We went on a fun Catamaran Cruise over to Isla Mujeres.  We did some snorkeling & then did a little shopping on the island.  There was this fun parachute thing that they did off of the boat.  I didn't dare try it, but Dave did & seemed to have fun.   One of the nights we went out to Coco Bongo.  That was pretty crazy stuff!  All-in-all it was a fun trip.
February was an eventful month I suppose...  Dave got me some beautiful flowers for Valentine's Day!  I loved them!  Valentine's Day itself wasn't the best day though (only due to the fact that I had surgery that day).  But, everything turned out to be fine & I am recovering well!  I also got to have a wonderful lunch date with some of my best girlfriends!  I love & miss them all so much!  I hope we can get together more regularly!
Which brings us to March...  Currently, there is still snow on the ground (there was a blizzard just last night).  Boooo!  It's ok though because it's supposed to warm up later this week.  Also, it's my Birthday next week!  I can't believe how old I am getting!  Haha!  I know 27 isn't really that "old"...  But, when I say it out loud it sure feels like it!
Lately I have been fixated on finding a new house.  We hope to be able to move into a house this year, so I tend to get a little over anxious about these things.  I pretty much look everyday for new listings or to see if the current ones I like are still up for sale.  Haha, I am sure Dave thinks I am a nut!  I just really love looking at homes!
This week HGTV is going to announce the winner of the Dream Home Giveaway!  I would only be so lucky to win that!!  Yeah, right... In my wildest dreams I am sure.  Probably why they call it the "Dream Home".

"The time has come for colds & over coats..."

Winter has definitely arrived...  It's pretty dang cold outside & I have been fighting a cold for about 2 weeks now. (boooo!)  The poor air quality is not helping much...  Anyway, besides that the snowboarding season has officially begun!  Dave got a new board & pass to Snowbasin for his Christmas present this year.  Snowboarding is his passion!  He is very good at it as well.  I on the other hand am not so good at it, I try to be...  I just can't seem to get the guts to go fast!  Haha, I am a sissy.  I do however have a goal to get better so that I can keep up with Dave, or at least not take 2 hrs to get down the mountain!  I can say that I have conquered the "Wild Cat" run!!  My worst part is getting off the lift, those things are scary...  That's why riding the gondola is so much better!  You can just walk right off and then grab your board & strap it on, instead of trying to pull a balancing act.  Maybe this will be my year...
